Our Curriculum

At Pimlico Primary, we want every child to develop a genuine love of learning, and our carefully designed curriculum provides the foundation to make this happen. Our team has thoughtfully selected and structured the knowledge and skills pupils need to succeed, ensuring they build on what they’ve learned year after year.

In Reception, learning begins through play in a warm and supportive environment, complemented by carefully guided activities led by adults. We ensure that every child receives the attention and encouragement they need to thrive in their first year of school. Activities are tailored to their interests and abilities, helping them develop through meaningful conversations and hands-on experiences. As they grow, we introduce more structured learning to smoothly transition them into Year 1.

In Key Stages 1 and 2, pupils engage with a broad and balanced curriculum, covering subjects like history, geography, music, religious studies, and technology. Our curriculum is designed to be both ambitious and accessible, combining high-quality programmes developed by our Trust’s Curriculum Centre in areas like history and geography, alongside well-established learning schemes for English, maths, and science.

In every subject and every year group, our curriculum follows a clear, well-planned sequence. This approach helps children connect new ideas with prior learning while introducing them to rich, culturally significant, and academically challenging subject knowledge. By the time they leave us, we want our pupils to be confident, curious, and well-prepared for secondary school.
